Springtail Snacks: Living Food for Springtails
Springtail Snacks: Living Food for Springtails is literally a living, reproducing meal for your springtails. Just as springtails naturally eat fungi in the wild, our living springtail food provides live, nutritious mycelium on a nutrient gel. Once received, simply allow the top of the gel to fully colonize with the mycelium until no blue is showing on top. Do not open during this period. Once fully colonized, you can either pop the nutrient puck into a springtail culture, or cut the container just above the gel and place in your springtail cultures. Each living springtail food culture should feed for 2 weeks to 2 months depending on the size of your colony.
Caution: Please ensure to add vents to your springtail colonies when adding this live food source to prevent CO2 buildup! We do have vent-stickers on our site for sale as well!

Moss Inoculant, a Tissue Cultured Tropical Moss Blend
Our Tissue Cultured Tropical Moss Inoculant contains a blend of 5 different tropical mosses/liverworts. This is a limited offering and is painstakingly made in our laboratory under sterile conditions from in vitro cultures. Unlike any other moss blend offered before in the US, our inoculant is only made from sterile tissue cultures and is itself sterile besides the mosses and liverworts–it is 100% free of contamination such as viruses, bacteria, fungi, and pest invertebrates. Only uncommon tropical mosses and liverworts have been used, the assortment of which will be detailed with your culture for later identification. Lastly, our moss blend is 100% sustainably grown in our laboratory and is suspended in a nutrient medium which has been formulated to be 100% safe for your vivarium or terrarium unlike traditional nutrient mediums which must be washed off.
This blend may include Riccardia Chamedryfolia liverwort (Rare), Pearl Moss, Nano Moss, Flame Moss, Taiwan Moss, Java Moss, and many more from our collection of over 20 tissue cultured mosses and liverworts.
To use, take a 10mL syringe or pipette and apply to moist areas in your vivarium such as your background, wood pieces, Sphagnum moss (dead), or substrate. Mist daily for the first three weeks or until established, ensuring the moss does not fully dry out.
You will receive 1 50mL flask per quantity selected. Each flask is filled with approximately 25mL of nutrient suspension and approximately 10mL of moss/liverwort tissue. One flask can cover approximately 1-3 square feet depending on how densely the tissue is dispersed.

Calcium Clay Bath Kit
Our calcium clay bath is 33% calcium with added magnesium plus a variety of added trace minerals including Zinc, Iron, Cobalt, and Potassium. Unlike other marketed calcium clays, ours has more bio-availability due to the extremely fine, air floated particles, which readily dissolve in water, allowing for vastly increased absorption across the dermal layer of dart frogs, in addition to a much higher percentage of calcium and additional minerals needed for amphibian bone health. Here at Houston Frogs, we have noticed that once the frogs have washed the clay off, their skin does look brighter and cleaner. This is an auxiliary form of supplementation meant to increase vital mineral availability to your frogs; however, you will still need to orally supplement your frogs as this bath does not contain vitamins such as A and D3. We recommend providing this clay bath to your frogs twice per month and refreshing the clay every two weeks (assuming they haven’t splashed it all out of the dish!). The splashed out clay will not harm your vivarium, but instead will provide yet another calcium source for your isopods and many micro-nutrients for your plants and beneficial bacteria and fungi, so nothing is wasted!
