We are a small hobbyist in the Kansas City Metro area, and have been keeping dart frogs since the mid-2000s. We currently raise several easy-to-care-for species of captive-bred tropical rainforest dart frogs, including D. leucomelas, R. variabilis, and D. auratus. These are great dart frog species for beginning to intermediate keepers, because of their vibrant coloration, activity and visibility in the tank, and hardiness. Also, while many other dart frog species can have problems unless kept individually or in M/F pairs, these frogs tend to do better in when kept in slightly larger groups (3-5) of their own species, depending on tank size. Housing them in a planted vivarium allows for exceptionally beautiful, interesting, and unique displays.
