As owner and founder of Frogsdirect.com, I strive to provide a great experience for anyone interested in joining the fantastic frog hobby. I have learned so much over the past several years, and my family and I enjoy having our little rainforest at home. I have always enjoyed watching animals of all kinds, and grew up on Marty Stouffer “Wild America”. I have also been raising plants for years, and many of the ones I liked would not survive outside a terrarium. One day, I tried to create a plant terrarium, and it turned out really cool, but it didn’t last because I didn’t realize the types of moss would require very specific requirements. I had a friend that was big into breeding Oophagas in college, and I searched far and wide for frogs, but didn’t even know where to start since he sold off his collection. The first purchase I made, the person took my money and never sent so much as an email. I had to go through my bank to be refunded, but I learned that it is difficult to go about avoiding a big-box purchase when looking at pets. Eventually, in 2016, I found my first Azureus blue frogs (Pictured on the left). That was just the start, within a year, I had 10 frogs, and today have over 30 frogs and small reptiles, along with a few snakes, 2 cats, a dog, and a decent Isopod collection.
I built this website to bring the community closer, and bring the best frog genetics to everyone. I hope we can promote better breeding practices, provide a source of information on frog care and best practices, and help to diversify genetics in the community through better visibility of the true market. It would not be possible without the support of our members and our customers who we like to consider family. Please take a moment to provide any feedback if you have any issues or would like to learn more about our mission! If you ever need anything locally in Chicago, don’t hesitate reaching out!
